How it runs

A trial that is actually a trial

A Lotto syndicate has a rhythm — draws, wins, people joining, people drifting off. You cannot judge software like this in a fortnight, so we don’t ask you to.

Months 1–3

Free. The complete app. Roughly twenty-five draws for a syndicate playing both Wednesday and Saturday — enough to have won something, split it, added a member and lost one.

The first bill

NZ$3 for each active member, covering the next twelve months. You are warned three weeks out and again a week out. Nothing is charged silently.

Then annually

Once a year, counted on your active members at that moment. A syndicate that has shrunk pays less; one that has grown pays a little more.

In real numbers

What that comes to

Priced per member so a small syndicate is not subsidising a large one — and so the whole thing stays smaller than a single line on a ticket.

A twelve-member syndicate pays NZ$36 for the year — under seventy cents a week for the whole group. The last column is the same on every row on purpose: at a flat rate per member, what it costs each person never changes with the size of the syndicate.

Important

The only money this website handles is the subscription

That is worth being unambiguous about on the page where money is discussed.

The app does not buy tickets

Buying the ticket is the syndicate’s job, exactly as it is now. The app records that a ticket was played and what it cost.

The app does not hold your funds

Contributions go wherever they go now — a bank account, a tin, an envelope. The app records the balances; it never receives the money.

The app does not pay out winnings

Distributing a win remains the responsibility of whoever runs the syndicate. The app divides it on paper, credits the balances, and tells everybody.

We are not Lotto NZ

Not affiliated with, endorsed by or associated with Lotto New Zealand. Lotto Syndicate Manager is independent record-keeping software, and nothing more.

Questions

Before you start

What happens at the end of the 3 months?

You get your first bill: NZ$3 for each active member, covering the following twelve months. The app warns you three weeks and again one week before the date, so it never arrives unannounced. If the syndicate has run its course, do nothing and it simply stops.

Is the trial a limited version of the app?

No. It is the whole app for 3 months — every draw, every email, every member. The point of the trial is to find out whether the software actually suits how your syndicate runs, and a cut-down version would not tell you that.

Do I need a card to start?

No. You set the syndicate up and use it. Payment details are only asked for when there is something to pay.

Which members am I charged for?

Active members at the time of billing. Someone you have marked inactive is not counted, so a syndicate that shrinks pays less at its next renewal.

What if a member joins halfway through the year?

Nothing happens immediately. The member count is taken at renewal, so joiners and leavers are settled up once a year rather than generating a bill every time somebody moves.

Who pays — the organiser or the members?

The subscription is billed to whoever owns the syndicate in the app. Many organisers recover it from the syndicate as a small annual cost; that is between you and your members, and the app does not collect it from them.

Does the app take our contributions or hold our winnings?

No. The only money this website processes is your subscription. Contributions, ticket purchases and paying out winnings are all handled by the syndicate exactly as they are now. The app records what happened — it does not touch the money.

What if I stop paying?

Management of that syndicate is locked until it is settled — but members keep receiving their draw and results emails throughout. They did not choose to stop paying and cannot fix it, so the app does not punish them for it.
