Disclaimer and scope

What this software is, what it is not, and where our responsibility ends and the syndicate organiser’s begins.

We are not Lotto New Zealand

Lotto Syndicate Manager is an independent record-keeping tool built by Lighthouse IT. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or associated with Lotto New Zealand or any lottery operator. References to “Lotto” describe the game your syndicate plays, so you know what the software is for — nothing more.

“Lotto”, “Powerball” and “Strike” are the names of games operated in New Zealand by Lotto New Zealand. Where those names appear on this website or in the app, they are used descriptively — to identify the games a syndicate using this software is likely to be playing. No association, sponsorship, endorsement or approval is claimed or implied.

If your question concerns a ticket, a prize claim, a Lotto NZ account or the rules of a game, Lotto New Zealand is the correct organisation to contact. We cannot help with any of those, and we have no access to them.

No syndicate money passes through this software

The only money this website processes is your own subscription. The software does not buy tickets, hold syndicate funds, take contributions from members or pay winnings out. Buying the tickets and handling the money remain entirely the responsibility of whoever runs the syndicate. Lotto Syndicate Manager records what they tell it happened, and shows that record to everyone.

Specifically, the software does not:

  • buy, enter or play any lottery ticket;
  • receive, hold, or transfer members’ contributions;
  • claim, receive, hold or distribute any prize;
  • operate any account into which syndicate funds are paid;
  • act as an agent, trustee or escrow for the syndicate or any of its members.

What it does is record what the syndicate organiser tells it has happened, calculate the even division of costs and winnings from those figures, keep an append-only history of those records, and email each member their own position.

Buying tickets, collecting contributions, safeguarding the syndicate’s money and paying out winnings all remain entirely the responsibility of whoever runs the syndicate. The balances shown in the app are a record of what is owed and held between the syndicate and its members. They are not funds held by us, and they are not guaranteed by us.

The only payment we take is the subscription

The single financial transaction between you and Lighthouse IT is the subscription for using the app — NZ$3 per active member per year, first charged after the free 3-month trial period, and annually after that. Full terms are on the pricing page.

Accuracy of records

The app calculates from the information entered into it. It cannot know whether a ticket was actually bought, whether a payment genuinely arrived, or whether a result was entered correctly. Those things are the organiser’s responsibility, and the record is only as accurate as what they put in.

What the app does guarantee is that the record cannot be quietly rewritten afterwards: entries are added rather than edited, each carries a reason and the name of whoever made it, and members receive their own figures by email as events happen.

Not legal or financial advice

Articles on this website discuss publicly reported syndicate disputes for general interest. Nothing here is legal, financial or tax advice, and nothing here creates a professional relationship. Syndicate disputes turn on their own facts and on the law of the country in which they are heard. If real money is at stake, consult a New Zealand lawyer or accountant.

Gamble responsibly

This is administrative software for people who already play. It does not sell, promote or facilitate gambling, and it does not increase anyone’s chance of winning anything. If gambling is causing harm to you or someone you know, free and confidential help is available in New Zealand from the Gambling Helpline on 0800 654 655.
