Just when I was thinking it would be great if there was an app that would scan my New Zealand paper Lotto tickets for prizes, I discovered you can with the MyLotto app! Finally, no more running to the shop to check your tickets and alerting everyone around you that you have won a bonus ticket with the rather loud trumpet fanfare!
You will need the latest version of the MyLotto app installed on your phone. Go to mylotto.co.nz/app-download and follow the link down the page to the “Official Lotto NZ App”. This will take you to the Store to download the latest version.
When you open the app on your phone, there will be an option to scan a ticket on the home page. Alternatively, if you log in, you will see a scan menu item at the bottom of the page. Tap on the scan button or menu item and then hold your phone camera above the ticket until the ticket bar code fits in the white rectangle in the middle of the screen. And presto, once the app reads the barcode, it will go away and check to see if you won. Be warned though, the trumpets will still sound loudly if you won a bonus ticket (or anything else)!
Well done MyLotto on this nice little innovation!
Tip: When uploading copies of paper tickets for your Syndicate on lottosyndicate.nz, make sure you clearly show the barcode. You can then view the image on your computer and scan the barcode on the image with your mobile device. Great for when you don’t have the tickets in front of you and you want to know the results now!
